<title>Estimation of economic values for some important traits of Ilam native cows in rural breeding system</title>
      <link>https://bilj.asnrukh.ac.ir/article_234237.html</link>
<description>The objective of present study was to derive the economic values for some important traits of native cows of Ilam province in rural breeding system. Economic value for each trait was estimated by comparing the profit for a base situation and profit after a marginal change in genetic merit for the trait, keeping all other traits in the breeding objective constant. The largest income portion was related to the sale of male calves, which was equal to 64.88 percent, followed by the sale of milk and surplus heifers (20.64 and 6.70 percent, respectively). The lowest portion of income components was related to the sale of milk by-products and was equal to 3.34%. The absolute economic value for the traits of average milk production, age at first calving, calving interval, actual lifespan, weaning weight, adult weight, male calf sales weight, calving rate, calf survival, adult cow survival and heifer survival were estimated to be 175.11656, -067.6504, 883.1440, 685.6496, 904.235772, -805.22903, 062.211074, 946.178706, 019.363672, 84.282537 and 991.75473, respectively. In the ranking of traits, calf and adult cow survival and Weaning weight were ranked from first to the third. The sale weight of male calves and the average milk production during the production period were ranked 4th and 7th, respectively. In Ilam cow production system, the average number of animals in the herd is 5,, reduces the marginal profit in many cases, the marginal profit is negative. Therefore, by increasing the herd size, the marginal profit of the system increases.</description>
